Position Summary:
Responsible for the management of Products used within M & I and various applicable markets, including implementation and maintenance of product promotion and new product development, along with helping to develop sales strategies.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for the promotion and support of all products related to Central's waterworks market and product line.
2. Identify the need and establish training programs for the sales and marketing department and our representatives and distributors of Waterworks products.
3. Identify product applications, material needs, sales opportunities and pricing structures within various industries and market segments.
4. Work with the Director of Product Management in establishing market opportunities sales strategies, pricing structures and product needs along with personnel and organizational requirements.
5. As necessary work with, train, and give direction to the Regional Sales Managers for the purpose of making customer contacts for the promotion of products within the M&I and Waterworks market
6. Maintain direct contact with distributors, engineering firms and large end users for specification and promotional purposes.
7. Serve as liaison between various company departments as well as management.
8. Represent the company at trade shows, product presentations and customer negotiations.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Travel as required for market penetration.
2. Management of special projects as directed by the Director of Product Management.
3. Serve as occasional back-up/support to other Product Managers as needed.
4. Assist in the preparation of literature, videos, and technical manuals.
Education, Experience and Skill Required:
1. College degree in Marketing, Business Administration or communications or proven track record of waterworks experience and/or major M&I project work.
2. Five (5) years Product Management experience with one (1) to two (2) years sales manager or project management experience is desired.
3. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Self-direction is a must.
4. Flexibility for travel up to 50% of the time.
5. Proven ability to set and meet goals within given deadlines.
6. Team player both in giving direction as well as taking direction.
7. Strong knowledge of utility products and the waterworks industry.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands
1. Able to lift and carry 60 lbs. for 50 feet.
2. Listening and speaking with customers, by phone and in person.
3. Extensive use of electronic mail, fax, and other visual means of communication.
4. Required to work a 40-hour workweek and be prompt and dependable.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions
1. Likely to travel in regions of extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
2. During travel, you are likely to work in areas with heavy pollution and dust.
