POSITION: Plumber
SALARY $30 an hour
For over 100 years the Alameda County Fairgrounds & Event Center has been a part of the community hosting live horse racing, over 250 events a year and an annual Fair that includes live concerts, tasting fests and cultural festivals that bring in nearly a half-million guests every summer. We are the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Association, a non-profit dedicated to managing the Fairgrounds.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a non- exempt full-time position in our Maintenance Department. This position will require knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; applicable state and federal health and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment. Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal on grounds. Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing gas lines throughout the grounds. An essential function of this position is to report to on-site emergencies in 45 minutes or less (call-in pay premium applies).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Installing or maintaining hot water heating systems
· Repairing sanitation systems
· Installing and repairing plumbing lines, pipes and valves
· Repairing and/or replacing broken and inoperable bathroom fixtures
· Clearing and/or unclogging drains
· Emergency repairs as needed
· Performing and taking regular water samples for submission to testing agency
· Maintaining water distribution system for potable water and grounds usage
· Other tasks as determined and required by management
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Must have or be able to obtain within 6 months a Certified Water Operator’s License from the California Department of Water Resources
· Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights
· Knowledge of first aid and safety precautions
· Ability to work independently or with a team and complete daily activities according to work schedule
· Ability to install, maintain and repair broad range of plumbing fixtures and components, pumps and valves as appropriate to the trade
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers.
· Ability to analyze and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations
· Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and verbal instructions
· Ability to perform heavy physical labor
· Must be a professional team member
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Must have a valid CDL and be able to be insured on our insurance policy
