Responsibilities Some positions have additional requirements General Function: The Mechanic will Education/Training/Experience: Minimum: High school graduate

General Function: The Mechanic will maintain district vehicles, diagnose malfunctions, and perform repairs in a satisfactory manner that will meet or exceed established standards for safe and reliable vehicle operation according to relevant legislation, regulations, and standards
For school bus repair types A, B, C, and D school buses or Five (5) years' experience as a certified general line mechanic with Medium/Heavy Trucks
Some positions have additional requirements as established by federal or state rules and regulations

Education/Training/Experience: Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent education, training and experience applicable to diesel bus or truck maintenance and repair
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver License Class "B" (with a "P" and "S" endorsements) and adhere to requirements as outlined in #6.41.4 NMAC
Must be able to obtain within 12 months of hire date and maintain ASE certifications for school bus repair
Must be twenty-one years of age
Preferred: ASE Certifications

Required Skills & Experience Education/Training/Experience: Minimum: High school graduate Preferred: ASE Certifications For school bus repair types

(District will pay for ASE testing / recertifications and training materials) Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: Must be able to read mechanic manuals and vehicle parts instructions
Transit buses, diesel and/or gas engine machine mechanic and ability to obtain ASE
Ability to use good judgment and to demonstrate good decision-making skills
School bus certifications within 30 months of employment

Education/Training/Experience: Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent education, training and experience applicable to diesel bus or truck maintenance and repair
For school bus repair types A, B, C, and D school buses or Five (5) years' experience as a certified general line mechanic with Medium/Heavy Trucks
Diagnostic, electrical, hydraulic, air brake and AC skills are a must
Preferred: ASE Certifications
