About the position The Sr. Financial Analyst assists the System Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in providing financial accountability for UofL Health, budget and financial planning/forecasting. The role involves performing various operations analytics duties throughout the month, including data querying, spreadsheet design and maintenance, trending and KPI monitoring. The analyst provides operational financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting, statistical and budgetary data, and preparing reports. The position requires applying data analysis techniques and methodologies to actual and budgeted information, which includes analytical, evaluative, and advisory work that necessitates an understanding of the respective market's operating activities and services provided. The analyst performs operations data functions that are generally more complex and requires a detailed understanding and application of operational data analytics techniques. The role also involves independent work, delegating tasks to team members, and providing leadership and guidance to others. Responsibilities • Provide support and assistance on assigned projects, engaging appropriate stakeholders and subject matter experts. • Ensure integration of financial planning tools among management teams for strategic decision-making processes. • Consult on finance-related issues and notify of material issues impacting financial performance. • Work directly with the Director of Financial Operations and Operational leadership to analyze financial data. • Provide 'lessons learned' to the System Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. • Assist with the development and implementation of the Market-wide capital and operating budget. • Collaborate with operations leadership to complete and maintain annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts. • Analyze variances from budgets/forecasts and communicate findings to operations management. • Prepare and review reports on financial performance and present recommendations. • Lead monthly operating reviews with operating unit leadership and provide training/education on financial issues. • Mentor Financial Operations Analysts I & II by coordinating projects and assisting in staff development. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required. • Minimum of three years in accounting, finance or analytics required. • Healthcare and system experience preferred. Nice-to-haves • Master's degree in Finance or related field preferred. • CPA or CMA preferred.Min Qualification
