Absolutely - go for it. If someone doesn't like them they can just filter out the playlist tag, no worries. Post to your hearts content.

Thank you! Might post here soon.

But yeah, mostly worried because of the self-promo aspect

In previous discussions about self promotion we've had the general vibe was that as long as that isn't solely what you're doing, and it isn't excessive, it's probably fine.

Beyond that it people don't dig it they can respond accordingly and appropriately.

Personally, I don’t find bare lists of songs to be a good enough reason to listen to the songs. I like reading about why people like their favorite songs, but that takes more effort than posting a list.

Probably not an issue now. It's something i think could eventually devolve into "low effort content", but cross that bridge when we get to it. If it inspires others to do the same then we may want to do like a monthly big post.

Sorry if this is obvious (I've never really gotten into playlists) but I'm struggling to connect the 'compiling cool music' with your own self promotion. Is your own music peppered into the mix? Is the title of the playlist your band, or does it link to your band in some way?

I'm generally more interested in promoting music discussion than music sharing, since more-often-than-not music forums just devolve into lots of people talking about what they're listening to, and not engaging in discussion unless it's an artist they've heard of/enjoyed prior.

Flip the question on yourself - would you be interested in committing to listening to a playlist of songs someone else posted here, regardless of genre, because it was posted here?

If more people here are into making playlists then maybe a recurring thread would be best.
